Coaching
Every team is coached by a parent volunteer. Here is what it involves, and how to put your name forward.
HYBA runs on parent volunteers. No coaching experience is required for our town and clinic programs — commissioners pair new coaches with experienced ones, and we provide practice plans. Town and clinic teams are coached by a parent of a child on the roster, so putting your name forward starts with your own child's registration.
Already registered a child?
The registration form asks whether you would like to coach. Plenty of people decide later — sign in and you can answer it now, against your own child's registration, so the commissioner running that division sees it when teams are drawn up.

Concussion training
Every coach, assistant and volunteer who helps supervise has to complete a concussion and head-injury course. HYBA certifies to the Haddonfield school district that we have done this, and that certification is what lets the club use the school gyms. It is a real requirement with a real consequence, not a formality.
- Take the free NFHS Concussion in Sports course. Free, with a certificate at the end. It carries New Jersey's own requirements and the return-to-play protocol, which is what the district's regulation asks for by name. You'll need a free NFHS Learn account first.
- Come back and record it on your account — the course, the date, and the certificate if you have it to hand. The certificate is optional.
Already done a concussion course somewhere else, or the Rutgers SAFETY Clinic? Record that instead — the club would rather know what you hold than have you sit a course twice.
